The sun shot out a double burst of electrically charged particles — known as coronal mass ejections, or CMEs — directly toward us this week. The geomagnetic activity produced fantastic northern lights. These are a few of the amazing images of Aurora Borealis filling the sky on Friday night, Sept. 12.
