Sunscreen's Dark Side

serenemaklong.blogspot.com

If you slather on sunscreen only once or twice a day, the sunscreen itself may be harming your skin. Once the UV filter molecules in sunscreen are no longer coating the skin but have penetrated it – as happens after an intense workout, a bout of swimming, or two hours of sunbathing – they stop blocking the sun’s harmful radiation and instead react with UV rays to produce collagen-damaging chemicals.

The phenomenon could accelerate wrinkling and the formation of age spots. It could also potentially increase the risk of skin cancer. However, more study is needed to be sure about this matter.

The remedy: Reslather frequently, at least every two hours. If you keep yourserlf covered in sunscreen consistently throughout the day, UV rays won’t be able to penetrate.
